Morning Program - Grammar classes and communication workshops

Morning classes: Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 12:00 PM (noon)
Communication workshops:

2 times a week from 9:00 to 12:00 PM (noon)

This intensive morning program focuses on an integrated and structured global approach whereby all the language aspects, whether the vocabulary, grammar, language functions and the pronunciation, are dealt with.

In the course of this program, participants take part in various activities and exercises designed to boost and strengthen their language skills, both written and oral, in the context of real-life situations.

Throught this intensive program, participants will therefore be using the four (4) language skills: reading, writing, listening and speaking. The emphasis is however placed on oral communication.

In the morning, students get a lot of practice in and exposure to the language of their choice through numerous and varied theme-based activities revolving around the discovery and better understanding of the surrounding sociocultural realities.

By the end of this program, not only will participants have a better understanding and mastery of their language skills, but also get a deeper grasp and familiarity with Montreal together with Quebec and canadian societies as a whole.

Full-day Program (French exclusively) - Grammar classes, communication workshops and sociocultural outings

Date: July 10 to July 28, 2017
Morning classes: Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 12:00 PM (noon)
Communication workshops:

3 to 4 times a week from 1:00 to 3:00 PM

*Those workshops are punctuated with various activities.

In addition to the morning classes previously presented, by choosing a Full-day Program, participants are entitled to another 21 hours of oral communication workshops achieved through different activities meant to discover various, as much as interesting, Montreal tourist sites, such as:

  • Old Montreal guided tour: a hike punctuated by a meeting with the magnificent Montreal city history, all in the respect of the students linguistic learning levels; finds and anecdotes promised!
  • Outing to the Jean-Talon / Atwater Market: an exploration of flavors, dishes and local products through a gourmet discovering rally.
  • Visit to the McCord Museum: a sound game (musical, poetic and theatrical) initiates and conducts the quest of various objects witnessing Montreal historical evolution.
  • Mont-Royal exploration: interviews with the mountain passionate hikers give an exceptional access to this natural environment.
  • Creating a photo report: a story developed through the preparation, design and montage of original pictures builds nothing less than precious lasting memories!

The Full-day and Morning Programs offer:

 

  • Oral Communication Workshops

Students take part in communication workshops which help to gain more confidence, predominantly in oral skills, while broadening the richness of the vocabulary through an array of communicative activities both fun and challenging. These workshops give the opportunity to discover and to deepen insight of some sociocultural aspects of Montreal, Quebec and canadian realities.

 

  • Phonetics and pronunciation workshops

Practice-oriented and animated by a specialist, two (2) phonetics and pronunciation workshops enable the participant to become familiar with the settings and sounds spellings to practice their right pronunciation. It is through repetitions, aloud readings and different games that the student develops this skill.

 

  • Picnic Session"Talkin' with your Mouth Full"

Students have the opportunity to once visit a nearby UQAM park to eat and "talk with their mouth full" at lunch time. Supervised and led by a team of language monitors, this linguistic picnic represent a great opportunity and an original way to further practice the chosen language, while enjoying and sharing free lunches in a relaxed and friendly environment. No worries: a free lunch is served to each participant!

 

 Optional Activities

These activities are not included in the Morning and Full-day Programs, but are well suited to marvellously complete a Quebec experience. Registration fees applying to participate to these optional activities, students can choose to enjoy access to UQAM sport center, a trip to Quebec City, an outing to the Mont-Tremblant, a visit to the Village Québécois d'Antan (Drummondville) and an excursion to Espace pour la vie. All these activities and their related fees are detailed under the Optional Activities rubric.
