Class size

A maximum of 15 participants

This intensive program allows the learner to get exposed to and/or to deepen the target language through a rich and varied thematic approach in which the socio-cultural realities are taken into consideration.

Throughout the program, the participant uses the four (4) language skills: reading, writing, listening, and speaking. However, oral communication is at the core of this learning process.

All in all, this intensive session encompasses all aspects of the language, i.e. vocabulary, grammar, language functions, and pronunciation.

Thus, the three (3) week-session is represented as follows:

Communication and grammar workshops

Monday to Friday from 9 AM to 12 PM (noon)
More than 30 hours in classroom, during the program

Participation in communication workshops not only promotes the acquisition of greater confidence, especially in oral but also the enrichment of vocabulary through a wide range of communicative activities. The basics of grammar are reviewed and adapted at the group level. Also, these workshops offer the opportunity to discover and deepen certain aspects regarding adaptation issues to Montreal, Quebec, and Canada sociocultural realities.

Phonetics and pronunciation workshops

Week 2 of the program
Monday to Friday from 1 to 2:30 PM or from 2:45 to 4:15 PM, as per the class schedule
3 hours in classroom

These specialist-led workshops allow the participant to become familiar with the sound settings and glyphs, and to practice correct pronunciation and intonation.

Socio-cultural activities (including a linguistic picnic)

Monday to Friday
Nearly 12 hours of activities, 3 to 6 hours a week, during the program

Five (5) carefully selected activities throughout the city, supervised by a team of teachers and professional guides, if any, are scheduled. As a result, the participant will be invited to discover Montreal's must-haves: historic districts, urban parks, public markets, and history museums.

The activities take place in the target language and one of the activities includes a linguistic picnic; an original method to practice the target language, in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.

Optional activities

These activities are not included in the program fees but are a great complement to a stay in Quebec. They are offered to you on registration. The optional activities include access to the UQAM Sports Center, a day-trip to Quebec City, or a field trip around Montreal. A detailed list of these activities and their related costs are under Optional Activities.
